Professional Bio
Olga Fellus is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, Brock University. She has been a teacher educator for many years and serves as the Program Chair of the AERA Educational Change SIG. Her scholarship focuses on the intersection between teaching / learning and identity-making in mathematics education. Dr. Fellus’ most recent work is a co-authored paper titled Hidden Figures, Hidden Messages: The Construction of Mathematical Identities with Children’s Picturebooks, which was published in For the Learning of Mathematics. This paper explores how picturebooks about the experience of doing mathematics convey misperceptions about who can do mathematics, what mathematics is, and what it means to do mathematics.
