Professional Bio
Dr Pauline Kohlhoff is a mathematics education lecturer and the Director of Professional Experience for Initial Teacher Education at the University of Technology Sydney. She currently teaches and co-ordinates the secondary mathematics teaching methods subjects, and also teaches in core subjects for Professional Learning and Numeracy.
Pauline's research focuses largely on pre-service teachers and teachers of mathematics, particularly with regard to their learning experiences in initial teacher education. Her current projects consider different initiatives for supporting pre-service teachers to develop the skills and confidence required to work as education professionals in a school setting.
Pauline is an active member of the board of directors for the Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads (APSMO), a not-for-profit organisation that publishes books, competition papers and teaching resources for mathematical problem solving. As the former Senior Mathematics Development Manager, Pauline developed the Maths Games and managed a team of expert mathematics educators who conducted professional learning for teachers across Australia. She continues to consult with APSMO in the production of teaching resources and competition papers for the Senior competition, as well as the Maths Games for school years 5-8.
