Dr. Nirmala Naresh is an associate professor within the Department of Mathematics at the University of North Texas (UNT). With a strong academic background, Dr. Naresh obtained her bachelor's, master's, and M.Phil degrees in Mathematics from the University of Madras in India. She further pursued her passion for Mathematics Education and earned a Ph.D. from Illinois State University. Dr. Naresh's teaching career began at Miami University in 2008, where she started as an assistant professor and became an associate professor in 2014. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a keen interest in various areas of research, particularly in ethnomathematics, multicultural mathematics education, and the effective teaching and learning of probability & statistics. Dr. Naresh actively participates in numerous national and international mathematics education conferences. Additionally, she conducts professional development workshops, specifically designed to enhance teachers' proficiency in mathematics content and pedagogy. At the University of North Texas, Dr. Naresh teaches Mathematics Teacher Education courses and undergraduate mathematics classes.
