Professional Bio
Michelle Welford has been in the educational field for almost 30 years. She has developed curriculum for the professional development efforts of the California Mathematics Project and the UCLA Mathematics Department. As Director of Special Projects for the UCLA Curtis Center for Mathematics and Teaching, Michelle co-directed the Smarter Balanced Performance Task Writing Project during which time she was pivotal in the creation of over 182 mathematical modeling tasks used in summative assessments across the United States. She is currently the Director of the Applied Mathematics Mentorship Program.
