Professional Bio
Teresa Bixirão Neto holds a PhD (European PhD) in Didactics of Mathematics from the University of Aveiro (Portugal), and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Education and Psychology at the University of Aveiro, as well as a member of the Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers - CIDTFF. She is involved in several research projects in the area of teacher training in mathematics, and in Cooperation projects for the Development of Countries in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP). She has developed ongoing collaborations with the Department of Didactics of Mathematics at the University of Granada (Spain) as well as with the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Huíla, in Angola. She has supervised several in-house as well as collaborative Masters and PhD degrees, from which several articles have been published. Her primary focus of research is in the area of algebraic reasoning, geometric reasoning and in knowledge and professional skills of mathematics teachers. Another focus of investigation is the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in teacher training, both in formal and non-formal contexts, favoring diverse and innovative approaches to Mathematics Education.
