Professional Bio
Abimbola is an innovative international mathematics teacher and didactics researcher, who is passionate about enacting dynamic changes to the status quo of secondary mathematics education globally. Recently, Abimbola bagged a Doctorate of Educational Leadership with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education, Indiana, USA. In over a decade, he has led a plethora of professional learning on flipped classrooms, culturally responsive assessments, accountable math talk, cooperative learning, and instructional technology for 21st Century classrooms. As a first-generation immigrant, Dr. Akintounde exhibits a relentless passion for integrating multicultural perspectives into mathematics education. He has been disseminating best practices in socio-emotional support for mitigating math anxiety, and visual contexts for ameliorating the linguistic burden of migrants and minorities in mathematics assessments. Dr. Akintounde began networking with teachers in Poland and across the EU to advocate for SEL and trauma-informed practices for refugee migrants in classrooms in the diaspora. Abimbola trains teachers and practitioners on evidence-based approaches to equity, school culture, relationships beyond the curriculum, SEL & effective assessments. As a disseminator of best practices, Abimbola loves to travel; exchanging perspectives and enacting meaningful cooperations on mathematical pedagogical beyond borders.
